End of the Road festival, Sept 15-17, Dorset

JimnoirLate in the festival calendar is a hidden treasure of a festival. In sleepy Dorset, or most specifically, Larmer Tree Gardens, the End of the Road Festival will be taking place from September 15th, to the 17th. The likes of Badly Drawn Boy can be seen, alongside bright new hopeful Jim Noir.

Inspired by the gorgeous Green Man Festival, the organisers of End of the Road are looking to create a blissful, tranquil gathering, with bands being given the chance to play longer sets than what is usual for festivals.

The Larmer Tree
Gardens is about 3 hours drive from
London, and falls on the North Dorset / Wiltshire
borders. Its pretty close to Stonehenge and Salisbury for all you hippie types out there.  The venue itself is beautiful enough, with gorgeous
views and peacocks and huge parrots roaming around the gardens and in the field. Just careful if you’re intending on taking some acid down with you…

The festival is also interested in making pleasure from the ‘little things’ such as good organic food grown locally, good beer, and keeping an eye on the environmental impact of the festival. The organisers are also avoiding huge sponsorship deals in an attempt to "keep our creative freedom and in order to avoid littering the beautiful venue
with commercial banners".

This little gem will set you back £95 for a weekend camping pass, and with it being in September, you should easily get the chance to book time off from work. For full details, go to the official End of the Road Festival website.

The confirmed bands for End of the Road includes Badly Drawn Boy, British Sea Power, Howe Gelb, James Yorkston, Kathryn Williams, Richard Hawley, Charlie Parr, Jim Noir, Semifinalists, Simple Kid, Gravenhurst, The Electric Soft Parade, and my tip for the weekend… Hush The Many.[Mof Gimmers]
