Love/Arthur Lee film to premier next month


Arthur Lee is set to posthumously star in a documentary about the late his band Love, which is to be premiered in the UK next month.

Love Story‘, directed by Mike Kerry and Chris Hall, will be shown at the National Film Theatre on October 27 and then at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton on October 29. The doc’ focuses on the band’s first three albums – ‘Love’ (1965), ‘Da Capo’ (1966) and culminating in the 1967 masterpiece ‘Forever Changes’.

The bulk of the interview material is provided by Lee, who tragically passed away as the film was being completed. He died aged 61 in August from leukaemia. In the film, there are interviews with Lee’s band members, including Johnny Echols, Snoopy Pfisterer, the late Bryan MacLean (via archive footage), and Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman.
