Babyshambles to play secret gig

Pete Doherty’s Babyshambles outfit are to treat fans to a unique performance at NW1’s
two-day live music extravaganza, The Camden Crawl on Thursday 19th April. The band are to play a MySpace Secret Show for a select group of fans and only the band’s MySpace friends will be able to gain entry to the Secret Show.

To be in with a chance of getting on to the list for the gig, ticketholders to the Camden Crawl should sign up to the Secret Shows profile at http://www.myspace.com/secretshowsuk and to the Babyshambles profile at http://www.myspace.com/babyshamblesofficial and put both profiles in their MySpace ‘Top 8’ friends.

Fans then need to show a print out of their MySpace profile to staff at the Camden Crawl ticket exchange when they pick up their wristband for the festival.

Entry is on a first come, first served basis, so only those lucky enough to be at the front of the queue will get to see the group in action.

Damo Suzuki and Malcolm Mooney live over Easter

The Easter weekend sees Can frontmen Damo Suzuki and Malcolm Mooney taking to the stage in Manchester and London in a fine double bill. The krautrock legends will take to the stage at The Luminaire on Kilburn Road on Good Friday and the Night & Day stage in Manchester on Sunday. Echo and the Bunnymen to play at free festival

Echo & The Bunnymen are one of the acts lined to play the
Freevolution free music event this May, as part of Newcastle’s
Evolution music season. The all dayer at Newcastle Gateshead Quayside on May 28 will be
headlined by homecoming heroes Maximo Park. The Bank Holiday event will
host 15 acts playing across two stages and will also see performances
by Larrikin Love, Joe Jackson and Hot Club De Paris on the Spillers
Stage.

Radio Soulwax, Simian Mobile Disco and Calvin Harris all play the second, Baltic stage. The Evolution festival, now in it’s sixth year runs from May 20-28,
with gigs and music seminars across Newcastle Gateshead, with many of
the events running for free.

The nine-day urban festival features over 20 indoor gigs in six venues
across the city and culminates with the ever popular massive free
outdoor event Freevolution.

Smokey Robinson to tour UK

Well, Smokey Robinson, who has been doing it right since time began is about to embark on a tour of the UK which will see Motown’s leading man bringing his funk and soul to our shores for the first time in years.

The tour starts June 27th at London Royal Albert Hall
with tickets on sale  now. This is Smokey’s first time in the UK for over 10 years and this tour will see Smokey
showcase a treasure trove of his own classics, from Shop Around, through to his most popular and enduring tracks,

Stones to headline Isle of Wight

The greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world are back and are all set to return to the stadiums and arenas of Europe this summer. Kicking off on June 5 in Werchter, Belgium, The Rolling Stones ‘A Bigger Bang’ 2007 Tour will play over 20 shows across Europe.

The Rolling Stones today confirmed shows in the UK, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Russia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Norway, Portugal & Ukraine. The band will be making history on this tour by headlining their very first UK festival, the legendary Isle of Wight Festival, on Sunday June 10 as well as playing St. Petersburg, Russia and shows in Serbia & Ukraine for the first time ever.

Roger Waters to tour the moon

Roger Waters is to play a series of shows in the UK this May, including two nights at London’s Earls Court.

The founder member of psych pioneers Pink Floyd, Roger Waters has toured the world since last June with a revival show playing seminal 1973 album "Dark Side Of The Moon" in it’s entirety.

Waters played only one UK date in 2006 in London on July 1, when he was joined by former bandmate Nick Mason on drums.

The concerts feature 360° quadraphonic sound and huge lighting projections on a stage designed by Mark Fisher, whose previous credits include Floyd’s own The Wall tour.

His band features longterm backing musicians Andrew Fairweather Low and Immediate legend, PP Arnold.

Former Floyd drummer Nick Mason was a surprise guest drummer at many of the "Dark Side Of The Moon" shows last year, it is unknown whether he will be joining Waters on stage again this year. Read over for tour dates…

Lou Reed ‘Berlin’ tour

Lou Reed has announced a European Tour of his classic LP ‘Berlin’ complete with UK Dates which will see the surly one bringing out his band accompanied by string and horn section. Oh, and not to mention the New London Children’s Choir who will be singing away with the band.

Tickets go on sale this week for the tour which where Reed will play Berlin in it’s entirety. The selected European dates begin in Brussels on June 18th, and include performances in Holland, France, Germany, Britain and Italy.

Lou Reed will perform two UK concerts at the London Hammersmith Apollo on Saturday June 30th and Sunday July 1st. Tickets for the London concerts will go on sale at 9am on Friday March 16th.

The Berlin European concerts are being hailed as a rare insight into one of music’s greatest minds, a labour of love and an integral part of rock history. “I only do this every thirty years,” says Reed. “One time, one time only. You can tell you kids you saw Lou Reed’s Berlin.”

I’m slap bang in the middle of a ferocious Jimmy Page solo at the minute, and looking forward to checking out a Neil Young show from the Fillmore East in 1970 next.

Tortoise to Tour North America

The genius that is Chicago’s Tortoise have announced the dates of a North American tour this summer.

The avant garde outfit will start out in Columbus, Ohio on June 14 and head to Tennessee for a stop at the Bonnaroo Festival the following day.

Hot Chip will join the Chicago band for a show at the Granada Theatre in Lawrence, Kansas on June 16. They plan to wrap things up at New York’s Webster Hall on July 8. Watch this video of the incredible Salt The Skies, and then read over for tour dates.
